Short Answer

1. The toddler wakes up when he hears a noise, climbs from his crib, and wanders out a door before the killer realizes he is gone. Although the killer later tracks him to the graveyard, the ghosts and Silas protect the child. (Chapter 1)

2. Jack tells Silas he heard a baby crying and entered the graveyard to help. This is ironic because Jack is the source of danger, since he is really looking for the toddler to kill him. (Chapter 1)

3. Silas is not dead, and he seems to have mind-control powers. (Chapter 1)
